Cherish the revolutionary contributions of Comrade Jacinto Roldán!
The Communist Party of the Philippines extends its deepest condolences to the Partido Comunista Revolucionario (PCR)-Argentina over the passing away last April 30, 2025 of their secretary general, Comrade Jacinto Roldán, who was 85. We express sympathies as well as to the family, comrades, and all those who were touched and inspired by Comrade Jacinto’s revolutionary life and work.
Comrade Jacinto Roldán was one of the principal founders of the PCR. For decades, he played a leading role in building and consolidating a revolutionary party deeply rooted in the Argentine working class. As Secretary General, he helped steer the party through turbulent times of military dictatorship, neoliberal restructuring, imperialist aggression, and popular resistance.
From his youth, Comrade Jacinto committed himself to the cause of the proletariat and the oppressed classes. He was a tireless organizer, educator, and leader who helped build mass movements and revolutionary strength among workers, rural communities, women, and youth. He stood firmly with the struggles of national minorities, confronting the brutal repression of the imperialist-dominated state.
The revolutionary experience of the Argentine people resonates strongly with the aspirations of the Filipino people. Both of our peoples face worsening burdens of imperialist plunder, crisis, and state violence. On the basis of the semicolonial and semifeudal character of Philippine society, the CPP wages a protracted people’s war to overthrow the ruling classes and establish a people’s democratic government. Despite the different conditions between the two countries, the common enemy–imperialism and reaction–unites our movements in the shared struggle for national liberation and socialism.
Under his leadership, the PCR actively opposed military dictatorship, denounced imperialist domination, and worked to unite revolutionary and democratic forces in the struggle for national and social liberation. Even in his final years, Comrade Roldán remained a clear voice of revolutionary guidance, advancing a vision of socialism rooted in the power of the Argentine masses and forged through struggle.
The CPP cherishes the long-standing friendship and solidarity between our movements and acknowledges Comrade Roldán’s contributions to strengthening proletarian internationalism. We salute his enduring legacy and revolutionary spirit, which will continue to inspire future generations of fighters in the struggle for a world free from exploitation and oppression.
His legacy lives on in the struggles of the Argentine people and in all those who carry forward the red banner of revolution.
Long live the memory of Comrade Jacinto Roldán!
Long live proletarian internationalism!
