Communique of CNL-Compatriots Global Launch & Assembly
The Global Launch and Assembly of Christians for National Liberation-Compatriots (CNL-Compatriots) was successfully held in October 2025 in the United States. The assembly brought together over 120 participants from across the country, including faith leaders from chapters and cells of CNL-Compatriots, as well as observers coming from Compatriots-NDFP, Kabataang Makabayan-Compatriots, MAKIBAKA-Compatriots, and others. Other countries held simultaneous gatherings as part of the coordinated global launch and assembly of CNL-Compatriots.

The gathering commenced with opening remarks from the CNL-Compatriots global representative. The representative shared the successful congress of Compatriots-NDF earlier this year, highlighting the development of the revolutionary movement among overseas Filipinos, and its role as special sector to arouse, organize, and mobilize compatriots including those coming from the church sector. The event was shared to be monumental as the first sub-sector under Compatriots-NDF to hold a global assembly. A keynote message from the Compatriots-NDF chair was read, which articulated the role of overseas compatriots to take part in the national democratic revolution against the three basic problems and overturn the current semi-colonial and semi-feudal character of the Philippines.
Solidarity messages coming from different parts of the world and other NDFP organizations were also shared in the event. Christians for National Liberation leaders based in the Philippines extended their warm congratulations and outlined the critical tasks of the progressive church movement, emphasizing the call to witness people’s struggles and contribute in advancing the people’s war in the Philippines. Congratulatory messages were also received from MAKIBAKA and Kabataang Makabayan-Compatriots.
The last part of the evening was dedicated to honoring the life and legacy of Ka Louie Jalandoni, one of the founding members of CNL and long-time peace negotiator for the National Democratic Front of the Philippines. Participants paid tribute to his lifelong dedication and service to the people and vowed to follow his path as a priest-turned-revolutionary to advance the National Democratic Revolution.
The second day began with a thorough review and discussion of organizational documents. Participants discussed the orientation and program of Compatriots-NDFP, relevant documents from CNL, and the Organization and Orientation of the CNL-Compatriots. The assembly provided significant inputs and resolved to approve the latter document after uniting on discussion points.
The assembly then proceeded to elect the country executive committee and council for the U.S. chapter of CNL-Compatriots, and subsequently elected the global executive committee and global council. The officers shared their commitment and zeal to carry forward the tasks set forth by the organization.
After elections, the participants discussed the General Program of Action (GPOA) for the next three years. The GPOA outlined campaigns, propaganda & education work, organizational expansion, alliance work, and support from the sector in advancing the national democratic revolution. After incorporating valuable inputs from the floor, the GPOA was unanimously approved by the assembly.
The event concluded with an evening of commitment and celebration. Participants and observers pledged to support and advance the people’s war in the Philippines. A cultural gathering celebrated the participants’ dedication to strengthen CNL-Compatriots and its mission to be among the poor and oppressed, and celebrated the overall success of the global launch and founding assembly.
