Filipino migrants in various countries held solidarity actions with the thousands of Filipino peasants marking Peasant Month last October 21. They carried calls for genuine land reform and accountability from the Marcos regime and all those involved in corruption and anomalies. They also demanded justice for all victims of human rights violations in the Philippines. They condemned the Marcos regime’s harassment and intimidation against delegates of the International Solidarity Mission held in Samar, Negros, Mindoro, and Rizal.

On October 20, members of the International Coalition for Human Rights (ICHRP), Philippine Australian Union Link, Bagong Alyansang Makabayan (Bayan), and Migrante held a protest in front of the Philippine embassy in Australia. They also submitted a letter containing their demands to the Philippine consulate.

In the US, Bayan, Migrante, Gabriela, Anakbayan, ICHRP, and Tanggol Migrante Movement held actions simultaneous with protests in the Philippines. They visited Philippine embassies in Washington DC, San Francisco, and Los Angeles. They also conducted a workshop in Chicago, a film and art night in Seattle, Washington, and an educational discussion in Portland, Oregon.

On October 21, the Filipino Migrant Workers Union, Gabriela Chater Road Chapter, and Migrante Hong Kong held a protest at Chater Road, Hong Kong. The Abra Tingguian Ilocano Society-Hong Kong also released a statement condemning the FCF Yamang Mineral Corporation’s large-scale mining operations in Abra. Before this, they held a noise barrage in Central, Hong Kong on October 19.

On the same day, Anakbayan United Kingdom protested at the office of Metals Exploration PLC in London, owner of Woggle Corporation and Yamang Mineral Corporation, to denounce the company’s environmental plunder and express solidarity with the farmers of Dupax Del Norte, Nueva Viscaya.

Anakbayan Toronto, Migrante Korea, and Migrante Japan joined the “global noise barrage” against corruption and expressed solidarity with the struggle.
