Various Kabataang Makabayan (KM) chapters launched a series of rallies on November 27 and 28 in Metro Manila to celebrate the approaching anniversary of the revolutionary organization. KM will commemorate its 61st anniversary on November 30.

In Quezon City, the KM-Andres Bonifacio and KM-Antonio Zumel chapters led a rally of more than 60 people in the University of the Philippines-Diliman campus on November 27. Other National Democratic Front of the Philippines (NDFP) allied organizations such as Liga ng Agham para sa Bayan (LAB, or League of People’s Scientists), Katipunan ng mga Gurong Makabayan (Kaguma, or Alliace of Patriotic Educators), and Artista at Manunulat ng Sambayanan (Armas, or People’s Artists and Writers), among others, also joined the mobilization.

In speeches at the program, KM-Andres Bonifacio and KM-Antonio Zumel saluted other KM chapters across the country that persevere and continue strengthening their ranks. According to them, amid the worsening political crisis under the Marcos-Duterte regime, the challenge for the youth to go to the countryside and join the New People’s Army grows even clearer.

“As hundreds of billions are stolen from the people’s funds, and as relentless clashes, finger-pointing, and betrayals among the same plunderers of our nation continue, millions of Filipinos further suffer from poverty and hunger,” they said.

They added that it is becoming ever clearer to the people that the people’s National Democratic Revolution is the only solution to end imperialism, feudalism, and bureaucrat capitalism—the roots of corruption and poverty.

In Manila, members of the KM-Lucille Gypsy Zabala Brigade marched along Recto Avenue on November 28. The Armas-Marlon Caacbay Brigade joined their activity. They carried the flags of KM, NDFP, the NPA, and the Communist Party of the Philippines, as well as large streamers calling on the youth to join the people’s war.
