Moro people continue strong support for Palestinian people
The Moro people continue to show strong support for the Palestinian people. On November 29, they launched various activities in Marawi City in solidarity for the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People. The United Nations designated this day in 1977 to raise global awareness about the situation of the Palestinian people and their desire for the right to self-determination.
On that day, a peaceful gathering of various Moro groups was held at the city’s Ground Zero.
In the Moro groups’ manifesto released for the day, they expressed their “unity and compassion with the people of Palestine who have endured immense suffering and injustice for far too long.” They called for an end to the genocide and an immediate ceasefire in Gaza.
“We believe in the fundamental right to live in peace, security, and dignity, regardless of one’s background or nationality,” the groups stated. “The indiscriminate violence and destruction that have ravaged Palestinian communities must come to an end.”
They called on the entire world to stand up and resist the brutality in Gaza. “It is time to prioritize the well-being and safety of all people in the region, and to work for the establishment of an Independent State of Palestine,” they said.
A forum and discussion on the situation in Palestine were also held at Mindanao State University in the city.
