NPA seizes R4, pistol, 14 military backpacks in Bukidnon, Agusan del Sur

New People’s Army (NPA) units in Bukidnon seized an R4 rifle, a pistol, and other military equipment in two armed actions in October. These actions were carried out at the height of the focused military operations of the Armed Forces of the Philippines battalions in the region.

On October 24, NPA fighters ambushed AFP troopers operating at the Namnam River in Purok 7, Sitio Mahayag, Barangay St. Peter, Malaybalay City, Bukidnon. Three reactionary soldiers were killed, and the NPA seized an R4 rifle, a vest, magazines, a pistol, 10 military backpacks, ammunition, and other supplies.

On October 14, the NPA attacked a 26th IB troop in Sitio Kimam, Barangay Binicalan, San Luis, Agusan del Sur. The NPA seized four backpacks and military equipment from the soldiers. At that time, the 26th IB forces were entering the area to attack an NPA camp. Instead, the soldiers were ambushed.

In the same barangay, the NPA encountered the 26th IB again on October 22, where NPA fighter Ike Dahonay (Ka Tres) was martyred. The NPA unit estimated that at least five 26th IB soldiers were killed, and many others were injured. The 4th ID reported that the injured include Sergeant Rene S. Mansulonay and CAA Faith Seith C. Pinadanag.
