Pampanga groups launch concert against government corruption

Around 500 people attended the Konsyerto ng Bayan Laban sa Katiwalian (People’s Concert Against Anomalies) held in Angeles City, Pampanga on November 16. The Concerned Citizens of Pampanga (CCP) organized the concert in partnership with the United Pampanga Artists Against Corruption (UPAAC).

At least 40 musicians, bands, and groups performed to denounce corruption. Among them was the progressive artist group Concerned Artists of the Philippines.

Aside from the performances, various personalities and organizations also delivered speeches. Speakers came from the ranks of the youth, the elderly, and victims of calamities and floods.

“Corruption has gone too far. It is time for the people to fight!” UPAAC declared. The group said that the people have had enough of corruption, lies, and shamelessness, and that corrupt officials must be held accountable.

Concluding the event, the organizers said that real change rests on collective action, people’s constant vigilance, and steadfast resolve in the fight for honest governance.

On September 18, the CCP led a rally of 3,000 people against government corruption in San Fernando City, Pampanga.
