Pilgrimage prayer for justice and peace launches in Bicol
On the feast of Nuestra Señora de Peñafrancia (Our Lady of Peñafrancia), the Bicol Pilgrims for Peace launched “Lakbay Dalangin 2025” from September 17 to 19 in Camarines Sur. Around 500 people joined the pilgrimage.
Farmers, fisherfolk, women, youth, and church people from the provinces of Sorsogon, Albay, and Camarines Sur joined the march that started at the Archdiocesan of St. Anthony de Padua in Iriga City and ended on the afternoon of September 19 at the Basilica Minor, National Shrine of Our Lady of Peñafrancia in Naga City.
According to the Bicol Pilgrims for Peace, the pilgrimage to the sacred site aimed to promote spiritual reflection for deeper faith and firm commitment to helping others, especially those in need, in response to the church’s call this “Jubilee Year of Hope.”
“Together we journey, not only on the physical path, but on the path of faith and social struggle, to advance a lasting peace rooted in justice, equality, and addressing the grievances of the oppressed and marginalized,” the group explained.
The Kilusang Magbubukid ng Bicol (KMB) expressed support for the pilgrimage prayer. They agreed on the people’s need to act to end oppression, land grabbing, and injustice experienced by fisherfolk and farmers.
