Statement

Ka Juanito Magbanua's revolutionary spirit lives on!

Three years have passed since the fascist Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), particularly the 94th IB, committed a heinous crime against the Filipino people and the revolutionary movement. On October 10, 2022, the enemy captured and summarily executed Ka Romeo “Juanito Magbanua” Nanta, a towering figure in the national democratic revolution, while he was on medical leave. His brutal murder is a searing evidence of the regime’s desperate and cowardly nature.

Ka Romeo, known intimately to the oppressed masses and his comrades as Ka Juaning/Kulas/Callao served as an eloquent and fearless spokesperson for the Apolinario Gatmaitan Command of the New People’s Army – Negros Island (AGC-NPA), and a dedicated member of the Negros Island Regional Party Committee.

His voice echoed across the mountains and valleys of the region, tirelessly and ceaselessly exposing the rottenness of the semi-colonial and semi-feudal system and championing the cause of the national democratic revolution with a socialist perspective.

Contrary to what the fascist regime believes, the death of Ka Juaning did not cripple the revolutionary movement. In fact, his martyrdom has only serve to strengthen the resolve of every red fighters and party cadres to execute the three integral tasks of mass base building and pushing for agrarian revolution and armed struggle.

His revolutionary spirit and legacy live on, not just in the annals of the Philippine revolutionary history, but also in the very name of the NPA unit he inspired: the Romeo Nanta Command – NPA.

Long live the memory of Ka Juanito Magbanua!
Long live the New People’s Army!
Advance the People’s War to victory!

Ka Juanito Magbanua's revolutionary spirit lives on!
