The New People’s Army in Eastern Visayas (Efren Martires Command or NPA-EMC) salutes the Sergio Lobina Command (SLC) for its successful tactical offensive against troops of the 52nd Infantry Batallion in Sitio Casapa, Barangay 4 Poblacion, Jipapad, Eastern Samar last July 7.

The Red fighters ambushed the soldiers using three command-detonated explosives (CDX). Five were confirmed dead, including the detachment’s commanding officer Technical Sergeant Jomar T. Capila, and four were critically wounded in the attack. No casualty was reported among the Red fighters.

The SLC seized a Gloc pistol, a .45 calibre pistol, a cellphone, and a flash drive containing high-value intelligence information.

The tactical offensive came four days after NPA-SLC ambushed a separate unit of the 52nd IB in Sitio Casapa, Barangay Denigpian, Dolores, Eastern Samar. NPA-SLC seized an R-4 rifle after the ambush.

“The masses rejoice over these successive punitive attacks against 52nd IB. This fascist batallion is notorious for its gross human rights violations against the people in the northern part of Eastern Samar,” said Karlos Manuel, spokesperson for the the NPA-EMC. #
