Red fighters in Southeast Negros continue to wage the protracted people's war
The Rachelle Mae Palang Command-New People’s Army (RMPC-NPA) belies the recent statement of 3ID commander Michael Samson, that there are ‘no more active guerilla fronts’ in Negros Island. This false statement has been reinforced over and over by their propaganda machines and fake news factories, but it is neither believable nor reflected in the military’s actions in Southeast Negros.
First and foremost, the five active guerrilla fronts in the island function under the Regional Operational Command of the NPA. NPA units continue to wage extensive and intensive guerilla warfare through an ever-widening and ever-deepening mass base, contrary to Samson’s claims.
While the NPA has faced setbacks, including the martyrdom of the Kabankalan 7 last April, the undying spring of the exploited masses will continue to invigorate the Red Army with more fighters, another generation of principled warriors who fight for a just and lasting peace, to follow the footsteps of the likes of Charity ‘Ka Mayang’ Amacan. More commanders and cadres will be tempered by the struggle and conditions perpetuated by the culture of impunity that Samson embodies. Now, younger Red fighters are taking up the tasks that their forebearers started in waging the protracted people’s war.
Secondly, the disproportionate presence of the AFP in Negros Oriental to contain what they claim to be ‘NPA remnants’ is appalling to the people who are constant victims of human rights violations, and even rank-and-file military troops who continue relentless operations in the hinterlands. The repeated storyline of fake encounters and surrenderees are no longer bought by Negrosanons, and their continued militarization only spells out the fact that they have failed to defeat the NPA.
In fact, outgoing 302nd IBde commander Escanillas revels in bloodied medals especially for the murder of National Democratic Front of the Philippines (NDFP) consultant Ericson Acosta and his companion Joseph Jimenez in Kabankalan City. His successor will undoubtedly be similar in practice, a mercenary official that perpetuates state terrorism and violence under the whims of his commander-in-chief Marcos and their US imperialist masters.
Lastly, it is the 3ID, 302nd IBde and the entire AFP that should realize their futile act of defeating the New People’s Army which has more than 5 decades of proof in facing tyrant puppet regimes. The people will continue to cherish their genuine army, and the ceaseless flow of new blood will continue to bolster the numbers of revolutionaries, ready to take up arms and sacrifice their lives for genuine freedom and peace.###
