We take note of the significance of the Robredo-Pangilinan miting de avance last night in Makati City, which was reportedly participated in by more than 800,000 people. The Robredo miting de avance dwarfed the miting de avance rallies of other candidates, including that of Marcos’ paid “hakot” crowd that is being falsely touted as a million-strong.

It exposed the false picture of Marcos’ “insurmountable lead” being painted by Marcos and counterfeit surveys. The demonstration last night serves as a clear warning to the Duterte and Marcos clique against schemes to steal the elections.

The gargantuan demonstration is a testament to the success of the Robredo-Pangilinan campaign to draw the support of the broad democratic sectors by denouncing the tyranny and corruption of the Duterte regime. It is a manifestation of how the Filipino people are fed up with police and military killings, state terrorism, corruption, military overspending, ballooning foreign debt and the economic and social crisis caused by Duterte’s policies.

Already in place is the system of automated vote-padding and vote-shaving through the rigged counting machines controlled by Duterte’s appointed officers in the Commission on Elections. One day before the elections, we have received widespread reports of massive vote-buying ranging from ₱3,000 to ₱10,000 per individual combined with ballot pre-shading being perpetrated by the worst of the political dynasties.

The battle to frustrate the schemes of perpetuating the tyrannical Duterte regime is bound to go beyond the elections. Any attempt to steal the elections will likely spark bigger mass actions.
