Two armed offensives were carried out by units of the New People’s Army (NPA)-Central Panay (Jose Percival Estocada Jr Command) against 82nd IB troopers on November 12 and November 21.

On November 12, the NPA-Central Panay attacked a unit of the 82nd IB at the border of Barangay Atimonan and Barasalon in Janiuay. The NPA hit the 82nd IB unit operating in Sityo Matagsim, Barangay Aglobong, Janiuay, Iloilo on November 21, around 2 pm.

Civilians bore the brunt of the 82nd IB’s retaliation when it indiscriminately fired at three houses in the area on November 21. One resident was injured in the shooting.
