19th IB forces minors to "surrender"

,

Soldiers of the 19th IB repeatedly visited two minors at their home in Barangay Paco, Las Navas, Northern Samar on April 8 to force them to “surrender.” The youths are siblings aged 17 and 15.

They are the children of farmer Edwar Yanay, whom the military has long targeted in its surrender campaign for allegedly being linked to the revolutionary armed movement. They are being forced to surrender to draw out their father and force him to surrender.

The soldiers summoned the siblings to the 19th IB headquarters in Barangay Opong, Catubig. Out of fear, the older sibling fled their home in Barangay Paco and remains missing to this day. The 19th IB is also harassing and intimidating other members of the Yanay family.
