The New People’s Army (NPA)-South Central Negros (Romeo Nanta Command) meted revolutionary justice by enforcing the death penalty against despotic landlord and leader of Alsa Masa armed group Philippine Army 2LT Rodolfo Fajardo (Ret) on April 12. The people’s army ambushed Fajardo in Barangay Payao, Binalbagan, Negros Occidental.

The punishment followed the order of the people’s court in the area. The revolutionary court found him guilty of large-scale land grabbing, multiple killings, and grave abuse of power. Fajardo killed and ordered the killing of at least 14 peasants in a series of massacres, arson, and extrajudicial killings. He was also detachment commander in Barangay Cansalungon, Isabela in 1985-1986. The families of Fajardo’s victims welcomed the punishment.

Meanwhile, the NPA-Northern Negros (Roselyn Jean Pelle Command) launched a harassment operation on the night of April 16 against 79th IB troops in Sitio Tub-an, Barangay Marcelo, Calatrava.
