Bicol youth groups condemn widespread corruption in the country
Bicol youth groups launched coordinated protests on September 13 to express their opposition to widespread corruption in the country.
Students from Bicol University (BU) under “BUeños Kontra Korapsyon (BKK)” protested during the university’s Welcome Freshmen Party against government ghost projects, political dynasties, and widespread plunder. Rise for Education (R4E) and the University Student Council (USC) led the activity. Kabataan Partylist (KPL) Albay also joined the event.
“From the march to the program, the nation’s scholars call for accountability from corrupt officials, the end of the political dynasty-led rotten system, and the genuine prioritization of the people’s interest instead of the pockets of the elite,” KPL Albay stated.
“Excellence, honor, and service remain hollow if, amid grave unrest, the nation’s scholars choose to stay silent and indifferent,” BU-USC deputy secretary general Elzon Olandria declared.
The Jovenes Anakbayan Naga City youth also launched a protest at Plasa Rizal, Naga City against corruption and anomalous flood control projects. Damayan ng mga Paraoma (DAMPA) and Alliance of Concerned Teachers (ACT) Bicol Union also participated in the action.
The youth demanded accountability from government officials, contractors, and the US-Marcos regime for the widespread corruption happening in the country.
