Together with members of Karapatan, Hustisya, and Tanggol Magsasaka, Lolita Abril filed a complaint at the Commission on Human Rights on November 7 to urge the agency to launch an investigation into the killing of her husband, Ronel Abril.

It can be recalled that Ronel Abril was killed on September 26, along with Roger Clores, also a farmer, in Barangay Simawa, Uson, Masbate. The 2nd IB elements claimed that the victims were New People’s Army members and were killed in an encounter. However, their relatives and neighbors belied this claim, and said that there was no encounter in the area at that time.
