The military’s ruthlessness towards Ka Maring is a complete disregard of the protocols of war and an outright violation of the CARHRIHL

The New People’s Army – Far South Mindanao vigorously condemns the brutal killing of Juanita Dore Tacadao (Ka Maring or Isay), a fascist act perpetrated by the armed agents of the US-Duterte regime.

The military’s claim that Ka Maring, 52 years old, died in a firefight with 39th IB soldiers and operatives of the Makilala Police in Sitio Lacobe, Brgy. Malabuan, Makilala, North Cotabato on February 14 is a flagrant lie to cover up their barbaric act.

Ka Isay, who has been suffering from an enduring illness, was weak and defenseless and couldn’t have resisted arrest but the fascist soldiers brutally shot her to death. Her entire body was riddled with bullets. The military further invented their claim that a landmine was recovered at the scene.

The military’’s ruthlessness towards Ka Maring is a complete disregard of the protocols of war and an outright violation of the Comprehensive Agreement on the Respect for Human Rights and the International Humanitarian Law (CARHRIHL) and the laws espousing the protection of human rights.

We hold GRP Pres. Rodrigo Duterte and his fascist regime accountable for this violence and other fascist crimes directed against those who have selflessly resisted the abuses and fought for human rights and social justice.

We express our deepest sympathies to the family and friends of Ka Maring at the time of their grief, pain and injustice.

At the time of her death, Ka Maring was doing painstaking revolutionary work among the peasants in the area who were displaced by the destructive earthquake last year.

She has spent more than three decades serving the masses of Far South Mindanao as an organizer and a revolutionary leader who helped achieve the rapid expansion in the region’s mass base and wage successful mass struggles.

The NPA-FSMR and the entire revolutionary forces and masses in the region express their highest respect and warmest Red salute for Ka Maring who resolutely fought for the people and the revolution. Like her late husband Ka Asyo, she is a martyr who faced all adversities and sacrifices in the path of serving the poor and the oppressed that she loved so much. She will always live in the hearts of the comrades and the masses.

The military’s ruthlessness towards Ka Maring is a complete disregard of the protocols of war and an outright violation of the CARHRIHL
