62nd IB rampage in Central Negros communities, kills carabao
The 62nd IB rampaged and relentlessly attacked communities in Central Negros a few days before the Christmas celebration. For 10 days starting December 13, its elements carried out illegal entry and raids on houses, intimidation and harassment, and the shooting of a carabao.
On the night of December 13, 62nd IB soldiers and traitors to the revolution raided the Turno family house in Sitio Laos, Barangay Binubuhan, Guihulngan City. The soldiers forced the family to admit that they support the NPA and told them to “surrender.”
On the afternoon of December 15, soldiers shot the Blasco family’s carabao in Sitio Tibobong, Barangay Quintin Remo, Moises Padilla. This enraged the family as the carabao was essential to their livelihood.
On the night of December 20, five 62nd IB soldiers stormed and ransacked several residents’ houses in Sitio Tiyos, Barangay Quintin Remo. The soldiers also ransacked the house of the Quiñanolas and harassed, threatened and coerced the family to admit that they are supporters the revolutionary movement.
After these incidents, the 62nd IB continued its combat operations in communities in Central Negros even during the Christmas season.
