Abuses lead to CAFGU killing 2nd IB military officer
A CAFGU member killed a 2nd IB military officer in Barangay Dapdap, Uson on September 25 out of hate due to extreme discrimination and maltreatment. The slain military officer, known by the alias Asyong, was the 2nd IB’s former information officer.
“BHB-Masbate also received reports that some military personnel fueled the CAFGU’s anger against his superior to have him killed,” according to Ka Luz del Mar, New People’s Army (BHB)-Masbate (Jose Rapsing Command) spokesperson.
According to reports, the CAFGU harbored intense contempt due to maltreatment he suffered. Military officers often treated the CAFGU elements as lackeys and slaves. Soldiers also embezzle their meager salary (or honorarium).
Meanwhile, the military’s distrust of its CAFGU personnel prompted the prohibition of carrying weapons during personal errands. This has extremely demoralized CAFGU members in the province.
“Ordinary soldiers and CAFGU members are gradually realizing that they are merely cannon fodder,” Ka Luz said. This situation has worsened in recent years due to the Marcos regime’s intensification of its counterinsurgency campaign with the aim of destroying the revolutionary movement.
“In Masbate, ordinary soldiers and CAFGU members feel fear and anxiety during military operations, they fear being ambushed or blown up by command-detonated explosives of the people’s army,” the BHB-Masbate spokesperson said.
Ka Luz emphasized that these incidents are proof of the inherent corruption and decay within the AFP-PNP-CAFGU. “[As a result], the Marcos Jr regime will fail in its campaign to crush the NPA and the entire revolutionary movement,” she stated.
Ka Luz also called on AFP-PNP-CAFGU members who “detest” their officers to break away from the Marcos regime’s bankrupt institution and instead cooperate with the revolutionary movement.
“They should do this while there is still time and opportunity for them to live peacefully as ordinary civilians,” she added.
