Call for justice continues for the 6-year-old child killed by the 62nd IB
Nearly a month later, the call for justice continues for the death of the 6-year-old boy of the Gelacio family in Sityo Inangaw, Barangay Quintin Remo, Moises Padilla, Negros Occidental. The child was hit from the 62nd IB soldiers’ indiscriminate gunfire in Sityo Inangaw on October 28.
The 62nd IB fired shots at the community in retaliation for the New People’s Army (NPA)-Central Negros (Leonardo Panaligan Command) counter-offenssive that day. According to the NPA-Central Negros, the counter-offenssive killed three operating 62nd IB soldiers sending the rest to a rampage.
“There is no truth to the military’s claim that the Red fighters’ bullet hit the child,” NPA-Central Negros spokesperson Ka JB Regalado said. He added that the NPA strictly abides by the Comprehensive Agreement on Respect for Human Rights and International Humanitarian Law (CARHRIHL) and international humanitarian law.
