FFPS features Philippine Revolution in international day of action

,

Friends of the Filipino People in Struggle (FFPS) chapters in Asia, Australia, Europe and North America launched various types of activities on August 26 to highlight and express support for the Filipino revolution. They timed the action on the commemoration of the Sigaw ng Pugad Lawin day, which signaled the beginning of the Philippine Revolution against the Spanish occupation of the country in 1896.

“These global actions, held in commemoration of the Cry of Pugad Lawin …underscore FFPS’ support for the ongoing struggle for genuine liberation in the Philippines,” the group said.

In the US, members of the group launched coordinated discussions and militant demonstrations in Baltimore, Portland, Seattle, Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco and Orange County. In their protest, they directly challenged the US and warmly expressed their support for the Philippine liberation movement against US imperialism.

In addition, two new member organizations, Tanod Lupa and Guerrero, were established in the country. Ka Marco Valbuena, chief information officer of the Communist Party of the Philippines, extended congratulations on their establishment.

“Amid the daily struggle to live and survive amid crisis, and the life-and-death struggle against the US-Marcos fascist regime and for genuine freedom and democracy, the determination of the Filipino people to wage resistance is strengthened knowing that they have friends all over the world supporting their just cause,” Valbuena said.

In Canada, FFPS Vancouver and Canada-Philippines Solidarity Organization-Toronto conducted studies and discussions. Their topic envisioned the revolutionary future of the National Democratic Front of the Philippines and how they can support. They mounted posters in the area.

In Europe, the group’s member organizations launched propaganda actions and mass demonstrations in The Netherlands, France, Germany, Spain, Switzerland, Denmark, Greece, Austria and the United Kingdom. They condemned Europe’s complicity in the US imperialist domination of the Philippines. The groups also urged their fellow Europeans to unite and join hands in the struggle of the Filipino people.

Newly formed FFPS groups in Asia and Australia launched similar activities. A gathering was also held in New Zealand where FFPS members exposed US imperialist aggression in the Philippines and the entire region.

“The liberation of the Philippines from foreign domination is not just an issue for revolutionaries in the Philippines, but for all anti-imperialists worldwide!” Paul Evers, member of the FFPS Global Secretariat, stated. He emphasized that the revolutionary movement in the Philippines and all liberation movements are unleashing the most significant blows against US imperialist rule.

Along with these actions, FFPS and its members honored the revolutionary martyrs of the Philippine revolution, including the August Heroes and Martyrs of Panay who fell in consecutive armed encounters this month.

The group announced its continuing campaign and activities in support of the Filipino revolution. They will spearhead the campaign “Support the Filipino people’s revolutionary struggle for a just and lasting peace!” that will run until June 2025.
