Protests confront Marcos in the US
Ferdinand Marcos Jr and his cronies were ambushed with protests upon their arrival in New York City, US on March 8. Over 200 Filipinos rallied at the Philippine Consulate General in the city. They marched to The Pierre Hotel where Marcos was staying.
The next day, they confronted Marcos, Department of Foreign Affairs secretary Theresa Lazaro, and Ambassador Jose Manuel Romualdez at the hotel. They successfully delayed Marcos’s attendance at the United Nations. Filipinos also held protests in other cities.
Marcos squandered thousands of dollars on a luxury hotel costing $17,000 or ₱986,000 per room per day.
