94th IB threatens to shoot husband and wife in Himamaylan City
The 94th IB soldiers threatened to shoot the Tasi couple, and their neighbors in Sitio Kambudlis, Barangay Mahalang, Himamaylan City, Negros Occidental on January 3. The 94th IB unit encamped in the said barangay has been operating in the area since the latter part of December 2024.
Residents reported that the 94th IB threatened and said it confiscated a short firearm from the couple. The soldiers accused them of being supporters of the New People’s Army (NPA). Whether the couple was arrested and charged with criminal cases using the planted evidence has yet to be confirmed.
Meanwhile, in December 2024, soldiers fired on Jesse Talaban’s hut located in the same area. They took interest in his “buyo,” (a kind of tree) which is Talaban’s source of livelihood. The buyo is used in “nga-nga,” which the village elders chew.
NPA-South Central Negros (Romeo Nanta Command) spokesperson Ka Dionesio Magbuelas condemned the 94th IB’s modus operandi. He said that the 94th IB’s harassment and combat operation only belie its declaration of having successfully dismantled the NPA’s guerrilla zone in South Central Negros.
Ka Dionesio called on the people of Himamaylan City to unite and courageously expose the 94th IB’s crimes to defend their rights, security, and livelihood.
