CPP declares 4-day ceasefire
The Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) declared a four-day ceasefire in solidarity with the traditional celebrations of the Filipino masses during Christmas and New Year. The Central Committee of the Party ordered the New People’s Army (NPA) to implement the ceasefire from 00:00 a.m. of December 25 to 11:59 p.m. of December 26 and from 00:00 a.m. of December 31 to 11:59 p.m. of January 1, 2026.
The Party leadership stated that the ceasefire allows simple Filipino celebrations amid serious social and economic conditions under the Marcos regime. Together with the people, the revolutionary movement will also use it to celebrate the 57th anniversary of the Party on December 26.
“Let us celebrate the ideological, political, and organizational gains and revolutionary victories during the past year of the Party’s rectification movement,” the Central Committee stated. During this period, the Party urged NPA units and local peasant associations to hold studies and cultural activities.
These efforts will help deepen the masses’ understanding of the crisis of the rotten ruling system under the corrupt and fascist Marcos regime. “It will also heighten their resolve to defend their rights, and fight for their aspirations for land, justice and freedom,” the leadership said.
In implementing the ceasefire, the Central Committee ordered the NPA units to maintain an active defense posture, especially amid the relentless combat operations of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP). “All Red commanders and fighters must remain on high alert against treacherous ground and air attacks AFP,” it said.
The NPA units must closely cooperate with the masses to implement this. “They must work closely with the masses, and must be ever ready to maneuver or counter-attack, when necessitated by the situation,” it added.
