Diliman hotel workers' union signs new CBA

,

The University Hotel Workers’ Union-KMU NCR announced the signing the new collective bargaining agreement (CBA) between the union and the hotel management inside the University of the Philippines-Diliman in Quezon City on August 13.

“This demonstrates the success of the union’s effort and strength to push for regularization, wage increases, and recognition of union rights. The gains in the CBA include additional benefits and allowances that will help meet workers’ daily needs,” the union stated.

However, the union asserts its aim to strengthen and expand not only as hotel workers’ representatives but also in support of all workers in the country.

“From the victories gained in the CBA, UHWU-KMU NCR will continue to push for a living wage, more jobs, anti-corruption efforts, and justice and peace in our country,” it said.

Meanwhile, Defend Jobs Philippines congratulated the union for its achievement.

“This victory is the result of the workers’ firm unity, progressive and principled stand, and tireless action to assert their rights,” Defend Jobs Philippines stated. According to the group, each win in the CBA is “a step toward a higher level of struggle for living wages, benefits, and job security.”
