NPA-Northern Negros seizes 2 pistols from military asset, police

The New People’s Army (NPA)-Northern Negros (Roselyn Jean Pelle Command) seized two pistols from a military intelligence asset and a police officer at armed actions on December 7. The NPA launched successive armed actions in Calatrava, Negros Occidental.

The NPA-Northern Negros first carried out a punitive action against Mando Ugdiman in Sitio Tagda, Barangay Dolis at around 7 a.m. A .45 pistol, ammunition, and other war materiél were seized from him.

Ugdiman actively served as a military asset in the community and guided military operations. He was also involved in harassing civilians suspected by the military of having links to the revolutionary movement.

As the NPA-Northern Negros unit that carried out the operation was withdrawing, they encountered three elements of the 1st Negros Occidental Provincial Mobile Force Company (NOCPFMC) in plainclothes in Purok 5, Barangay Lagaan. Mistaking them for civilians, the NPA unit approached and tried to calm them.

The police opened fire, triggering an encounter that killed Police Senior Master Sergeant Rommel Aguilar. A 9mm pistol and ammunition were seized from him. His companions fled in fear.
