World condemns Israel law imposing death penalty on Palestinians for killing cases
Countries, peoples, and human rights organizations and institutions worldwide strongly condemned the Zionist Israel state for passing a law imposing the death penalty on any Palestinian convicted of killing an “Israeli.”
Passed by a 62-48 vote and one abstention on March 30, the law authorized automatic execution by hanging for any Palestinian residing in the West Bank who is convicted by Israel’s military court of killing an “Israeli.” Conversely, no such punishment applies to “Israelis” for killing a Palestinian.
Human Rights Watch and Amnesty International consider the law as clearly oppressive and violates international humanitarian rules. The European Union and several countries, such as Britain, France, Germany, and Italy, have called on Zionist Israel to repeal the law.
The Philippines-Palestine Friendship Society (PPFS) immediately denounced the law.
Atty. Edre Olalia, one of the PPFS leaders, said the law is not only a violation of human rights but also “a blatant display of racism and apartheid by Israel against the Palestinian people.”
Olalia urged the international community, as well as the Filipino masses who themselves experienced colonialism and oppression, not to remain silent and to support the Palestinian people’s right to freedom and justice.
“This law signals a new phase of systematic killing that must be stopped by the United Nations and the International Criminal Court,” he said.
Meanwhile, Pakistan, Turkey, Egypt, Indonesia, Jordan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE issued a joint statement condemning the law. The Palestinian Authority declared it a “war crime.”
At least 9,000 Palestinians, including minors, are currently imprisoned in various Israeli detention facilities. Many of them are jailed without charges, without scheduled trials, and suffer severe torture at the hands of “Israelis.”
