Rural mass work conference. Dozens of organizers from the ranks of peasants, fisherfolk, semi-proletariat, women, youth, and artists attended the conference on rural mass work in an undisclosed location in April. Led by PKM (Pambansang Katipunan ng mga Magbubukid, or National Peasant Alliance), they discussed the documents Step-by-step Organizing and Building Organs of Political Power to advance the intensification of recovery work and expansion of the revolutionary peasant movement.

Political study in FSMR. More than 20 Party members and New People’s Army Red fighters completed studies under the curriculum of the National Democratic School in a guerrilla front in the Far South Mindanao Region (FSMR) in April. They carried this out amid the focused military operations (FMO) of the fascist 37th IB and 57th IB in the area. The students discussed their own experiences, shortcomings, and weaknesses in action. The unit later became more determined to advance to a higher level of struggle.

BPC held in the New People’s Army in Eastern Visayas. The New People’s Army-Eastern Visayas launched a batch of study in the Basic Party Course (BPC) in the latter part of March. They conducted this at the height of the 8th ID’s FMO. The successful study demonstrated the Red army’s burning determination to raise its ideological capability. It also showed the capability of the New People’s Army and the mass base to maintain high-level of secrecy and uphold the security of the study.
