Capitalist violates PhilFoods CBA

Workers of Philfoods Fresh Baked Product Inc. at the Laguna International Industrial Park (LIIP) in Biñan, Laguna, held a protest on the morning of November 11. Led by their union, PPFBPI-OLALIA-KMU, they demanded the capitalist to fulfill the agreed upon provisions in the signed collective bargaining agreement (CBA).

According to Pamantik, the regional chapter of the Kilusang Mayo Uno in Southern Tagalog, the workers specifically pushed for the implementation of retroactivity and meal allowance. The union went to the National Conciliation and Mediation Board to hold the capitalist PhilFoods accountable for these violations.

The workers’ struggles have been relentless since the union was established in September 2023. In the first quarter of 2024, the union stood firm against the repeated deadlock in CBA negotiations which began in January.

Philfoods Fresh Baked Product Inc. is a sister company of Gardenia Bakeries, a multinational company. It manufactures bread and other baked goods.
