Koalisyong Makabayan announces councilor candidates in NCR
The Koalisyong Makabayan has announced its candidates for councilorship in various cities of the National Capital Region (NCR) during a regional assembly held on September 30 in Barangay 682, Sta. Mesa, Manila.
Makabayan-NCR views the upcoming 2025 elections as an opportunity to highlight civic issues affecting the region’s democratic sectors. Their rallying cry is, “From the Senate to the council, let the people win!” At the national level, the coalition will field 11 senatorial candidates alongside four party-list groups.
According to the group, “Under the current administration, workers, especially those in the transportation and labor sectors, are facing exploitative policies and worsening socio-economic conditions.”
They stated that their candidates will fight for reforms beneficial to workers and youth. “They will carry a platform focusing on labor rights, public transportation reform, and empowering poor communities.”
In District 1 of Caloocan, Bayan Muna Caloocan coordinator Ricardo “Rex” Margallo will run for councilor. In District 2 of Marikina, Rene Mira, the president of the Fortune Vendors Association, is also a candidate. Leticia Castillo will represent District 2 in Valenzuela, while Myrna “Ate Myrns” Dela Concepcion, the second president of Gabriela Muntinlupa, is vying for a position in District 1 of Muntinlupa. Additionally, Eleazar Anaya from Kabataan Partylist will run in District 1 of Muntinlupa, and Girlie “Jing” Delos Santos, president of the United Residents of Maysapang, is a candidate in District 1 of Taguig.
“Let us demonstrate the strength and determination of the Filipino people in the upcoming 2025 elections. The display of courage and determination will decide the attainment of social change!”
New officers for the Makabayan-NCR leadership committee were also elected during the assembly.
