LBC Express Metro Manila workers prepare for larger actions for CBA

,

More than 300 workers of LBC Express MM, Inc. in Metro Manila gathered for the union’s general assembly on May 31. The meeting confirmed workers’ unity for expanded actions in the coming days and weeks to push for a substantial collective bargaining agreement (CBA).

In statements posted by the union on Facebook page ‘Elbisi-Ang Hari ng Pagbarat’ (LBC King of Wage Suppression), the union said that the LBC Express management did not offer any progress and have not made any meaningful response in the recent negotiations for the CBA. The company only offered up to ₱32 additional pay per day over the next three years. It would reportedly give an additional ₱14 in the first year, ₱10 in the second year, and ₱8 in the third year.

The union first demanded in September 2025 a wage increase of ₱100 per day for the next three years. As negotiations proceeded, the union compromised and lowered its wage increase demand but management remained inflexible.

The union expressed deep disappointment with LBC management. “We do not turn night into day of working just to be granted paltry centavos,” it said. In response, the union already filed a “Notice to Strike” with the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) this May.

It also condemned LBC’s employment of contractual workers from manpower agencies as a tactic to weaken the union and avoid direct obligations to workers. “If workers can win a just wage increase only through STRIKE, we are ready to fight and struggle for work with dignity,” the union said.

The union at the workers’ general assembly united behind the position that workers can not stop, stay silent, or simply accept token increases. “Instead, it is more important to stand up, fight, and unite, because the workers’ struggle wins through collective action!” it said.

LBC Express MM, Inc. is owned by LBC Express Holdings Inc., which had total revenues of more than ₱14 billion in 2025. LBC Express Holdings Inc. is owned by LBC Development Corporation of Ayala Corporation. The company’s workers include truck drivers, warehouse sorters, admin clerks, and other LBC logistics workers.
