In Masbate, the 2nd IB captured, tortured, and willfully killed a New People’s Army (NPA)-Masbate Red fighter on December 13. The fighter sustained a leg injury and was captured after a battle in Barangay Pitogo, Cataingan that day. Soldiers subjected him to brutal physical torture in retaliation for the death of two soldiers of the 2nd IB in the encounter.

Meanwhile, on December 9, police arrested Juanito Bultron on murder charges and accused him of being a high-ranking official of the NPA. He is a resident of Barangay Teresita, Cataingan and has a mental disability. Police claimed to have arrested him in Barangay Malibas, Palanas.

In Occidental Mindoro, the 76th IB abducted and tortured Dolores Mariano Solangon, a 47-year-old Mangyan-Iraya woman, in Abra de Ilog, Occidental Mindoro on December 2 at around 1:30 p.m. Soldiers tied her to a tree and interrogated her until 4:00 p.m.

They brought her to a mountainous area and tortured her again until 9:00 p.m. They also forced her to dig her own grave and threatened to kill her if she escaped. The 76th IB abducted and tortured Solangon after its encounter with the NPA in Sitio Balite, Barangay Lumangbayan in Abra de Ilog on November 26.
