More than 20 members of Makabayang Samahang Pangkalusugan-National Capital Region (MSP-NCR, or Patriotic Health Alliance) chapter gathered in a secret location on December 6 to launch their regional assembly. Hospital health workers, nurses, doctors, medical technologists, dentists, and students of medicine and nursing attended the event.

MSP-NCR held the assembly to mark its 47th anniversary since its founding on December 6, 1978.

At the gathering, MSP-NCR reaffirmed its support for the people’s democratic revolution amid the Filipino people’s extreme suffering. It stated that merging the health sector’s strength with the people’s struggle for advancing the revolution is crucial.

The assembly also formulated a five-point resolution to invigorate its struggle. The resolution appeared in a special issue of the publication Ang Rebolusyonaryong Lunas (The Revolutionary Cure).

According to the regional chapter, the gathering was an important occasion for consolidating the MSP membership. It provided an opportunity for members to share revolutionary experiences in organizing and delivering MSP services that responded to the call to go to the countryside. It added that the assembly also served as an important step in preparing for further consolidation of MSP at the national level.
