Makabayan-National Capital Region (NCR) announced that it is prepared to field candidates in local councils in the region. In a press conference yesterday, it called for installing the people “from the Senate to the council.”

“Under the current administration, workers, especially in the transport and labor sectors, have borne the brunt of exploitative policies and worsening socio-economic conditions, the group said. “It is clear that there is an urgent need to correct these injustices and implement policies that will uplift our workers, not push them further into poverty.”

They said their candidates will fight for reforms beneficial to workers and youth. “They will carry a platform that will center on labor rights, public transport reform, and the empowerment of marginalized communities.”

The Makabayan NCR Regional Assembly will be held on September 20, one week before the coalition’s national assembly. Workers, youth and sectors from the national capital are set to attend.
