Holy Week’s Kalbaryo ng Mamamayan. The Kalbaryo ng Mamamayan 2026 (People’s Calvary) was conducted from Holy Tuesday to Good Friday, April 3, to highlight the Filipino people’s burdens, especially amid the worsening economic crisis.
The activity began within the community along NIA Road, Quezon City on March 31. Similar actions were carried out in Tondo, Manila; Caloocan; Malabon; Navotas; and at Welcome Rotonda and Tatalon in Quezon City. The Kalbaryo ng Manggagawang Pangkalusugan at Mamamayan (Calvary of Health Workers and People) was held at the same time at the Department of Health to protest the rising cost of medicine and the increasing difficulty of hospitalization. In Davao City, progressive groups led the Kalbaryo sa Katawhan (People’s Calvary).
Palaw’an minorities’ anti-mining barricade. Indigenous Palaw’an and residents of Sitio Linao, Barangay Ipilan, Brooke’s Point, Palawan mounted a barricade on March 26 to block the entry and operations of Calmia Nickel, Inc. The company is confronting their stand with threats and harassment.
Set to operate the Infanta Nickel Project, Calmia Nickel, Inc. was contracted by MacroAsia Mining Corporation, a subsidiary of MicroAsia Corp owned by comprador bourgeois Lucio Tan.
