Israel's bombing of Lebanon face broad condemnation
Many countries and international leaders condemned Israel’s brazen bombing of southern and other areas of Beirut, the capital of Lebanon, on September 23-24. It targeted residential buildings and civilian communities. Even the vehicles helping injured civilians were bombed.
The latest report said at least 558 people have been killed, including 50 children, and more than 1,835 injured as a result of the bombing. At least 110,000 civilians were forced to evacuate.
The attack on Lebanon further intensifies and expands the armed conflict throughout the Middle East region. This is Israel’s retaliatory attack on Lebanon’s strong support, particularly of the Hezbollah group, in the armed struggle of Hamas and the whole of Palestine. Israel carried out the invasion with US support.
Earlier, Israel carried out the detonation of explosive-rigged pagers and walkie-talkies, killing more than 20 people and injuring nearly 3,000, mostly civilians.
Middle East countries strongly condemned Israel’s latest attack on Lebanon. Iran said Israel is expanding its genocide from Gaza to Lebanon. It warned Israel and the US against igniting a wider war in the region. Its foreign affairs official called the attacks Israel’s “madness”.
Jordan called Israel’s actions as aggression. Along with other countries in the region, it is calling for immediate intervention of the United Nations to ensure the safety of Lebanese civilians.
The US feigns “alarm” for Israel’s actions, while continuing to fund and arm the Zionist regime in Israel. Behind its call for “diplomacy,” it sent warships and additional troops to the region to “defend” Israel.
“These attacks aim to punish the people of Lebanon and their anti-Zionist and anti-imperialist resistance forces for supporting the struggle of the Palestinian people for liberation and self-determination,” Marco Valbuena, Communist Party of the Philippines information officer, said. These form part of the US-sanctioned Zionist plan to spread the war in the Middle East after almost one year of constant aerial bombing and shelling of Gaza, he said. Israel killed more than 40,000 people, including more than 10,600 children.
The Party extends its solidarity with the people of Lebanon and supports their just resistance against Zionist Israel’s continuing aggression and attacks. “The people of Lebanon and their resistance forces have every right to retaliate, fight back and defend their land,” Valbuena said.
The CPP calls on the Filipino people to unite and condemn Israel’s aggression against Lebanon, oppose US imperialist warmongering, foreign intervention and state terrorism, and support the resistance of the Palestinian people, the people of Lebanon and all who are fighting for national liberation.
