Tribunal in Spain finds Israel and US guilty of genocide and ecocide crimes

The International People’s Tribunal on Palestine, held on November 22–23 in Spain, concluded with a verdict that the Zionist state of Israel and its accomplice governments—the US, UK, Germany, France, and others—guilty of the crimes of genocide and ecocide.

The tribunal heard testimonies from survivors of genocide and ecocide in Gaza and the West Bank over two days. The tribunal has closed but everyone knows that the struggle is not yet over.

The tribunal was launched in solidarity with the struggles of the Palestinian people. It is part of the international movement acting to stop the genocide and demand justice for the Palestinian people, who have suffered for more than seven decades under the brutal occupation of the Zionist state.

Lead prosecutor Jan Fermon compared the tribunal and the pro-Palestine movement to other international movements in the history of peoples’ struggles around the world. These include international movements that pushed the US to end its war in Vietnam, those that fought against Nazism in Germany, and those that sought the end of Apartheid in Africa.

The tribunal will submit its verdict, with its compiled documents and testimonies, to high-level bodies such as the United Nations General Assembly, Human Rights Council, International Court of Justice, International Criminal Court, and to states seeking accountability and action on war crimes of genocide and the laws governing armed conflict.
