Kontra Daya group launches assembly to prepare for the 2025 elections

,

On September 30, the Kontra Daya group held an assembly in Intramuros, Manila, as part of their preparations for the 2025 elections. The group’s aim is to campaign for a clean, peaceful, and democratic election in light of the current dirty, violent, and controlled electoral system characterized by fraud in machine voting.

According to the group’s manifesto, “Kontra Daya recognizes its duty to expose and challenge the existing corrupt electoral system.” The manifesto states that the people’s trust in elections have eroded due to rampant corruption, violence, and deception.

The group believes that voting is a fundamental human right and that the citizens’ voices must be heard in this process. “We believe that elections should be free from corruption, manipulation, and coercion, and that every vote must be counted accurately.”

Kontra Daya asserts that collective action by Filipinos can lead to significant change. In this regard, the group advocates for the dismantling of the current automated election system and its replacement with a hybrid system to ensure vote monitoring.

During the assembly, Kontra Daya recognized its founder, Fr. Joe Dizon, known as the “priest of the people” due to his dedication to social justice similar to that of Kontra Daya.

Comelec Commissioner Nelson Celis also shared insights at the gathering regarding the agency’s preparations for the upcoming midterm elections. He discussed Comelec’s guidelines on social media aimed at combating misinformation.

Following the assembly, the group marched to the Comelec office in Intramuros, carrying a manifesto signed by various organizations.

“We ask you to support organizations and initiatives that are working towards electoral reform, join us in peaceful protests, rallies, and advocacy campaigns to demand a better electoral system, and for accountability from our leaders and institutions,” the manifesto stated.
