NDFP organizations celebrate 56th anniversary of the New People's Army
Organizations under the National Democratic Front (NDF) launched various activities to celebrate the 56th anniversary of the New People’s Army on March 29. They paid tribute to the Red fighters and commanders of the NPA for their unwavering revolutionary spirit in advancing armed struggle in the countryside.
On March 29, Kabataang Makabayan (KM)-Kira Mindoro held a short program inside the Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP)-Manila to encourage the people’s scholars to join the people’s army. They carried a large streamer and flags of the Party, NPA, and NDF.
After the program, KM members hung the streamer and flags on the fourth and fifth floors of a building on campus. On the same day, KM reportedly painted graffiti and hung posters on walls and various rooms in PUP. These aimed to inform their fellow youth and people’s scholars about the NPA’s noble aspirations.
KM also reportedly posted similar calls at De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde campus on that day. Among those posted on campus was a poem created by KM’s chapter. The group vowed to strengthen their ranks to continue supporting the people’s war.
Meanwhile, KM chapters in Rizal and Quezon provinces delivered solidarity statements. “[Aside from] providing material support, KM has also sent thousands of skilled cadres and activists forged in urban struggles to further ignite the advancement of peasant warfare in the countryside,” KM-Quezon (Balangay Dani Lagrima) spokesperson Ka Abet Peninsula said.
The chapter called on Quezon youth to fulfill their historic duty, take up arms, and crush the reactionary state. “Come, join exposure programs, tours of duty, and go full-time with the NPA,” Ka Abet urged.
On March 30, organizations under the NDF, including KM, Liga ng Agham para sa Bayan, Katipunan ng mga Gurong Makabayan, and others marched inside University of the Philippines-Diliman to celebrate the anniversary of the NPA. Visitors and pedestrians within the campus witnessed the activity.
Christians for National Liberation members also launched an “operation pinta” (graffiti campaign) along Aurora Boulevard Extension in Quezon City on March 23 in support of the NPA.
NDF’s national leadership, NDF-Ilocos, and Pambansang Katipunan ng mga Magbubukid also issued solidarity statements for the anniversary.
