Philippines wins two gold medals in the Olympics gymnastics competition

Filipinos celebrated athlete Carlos Yulo’s historic win of two gold medals in the gymnastics events at the Olympic Games in Paris, France.

Yulo won the first gold in the men’s floor exercise on August 4 where he got a score of 15.000, defeating the former champion from Israel. He won a second gold on August 5 in the vault competition, prevailing over rivals from Armenia and Britain.

Yulo’s victory was celebrated, especially by his fellow youth. “Congratulations, Carlos Yulo! Your talent dedicated to the honor of the Filipino people is gold,” Anakbayan said. “We pledge to fight for proper support for Filipino athletes to achieve more success.”

Yulo’s win and the continued efforts of Filipino athletes in the Olympics amplified the call for the Philippine government support, whether they win or lose.

Yulo is joined by 21 other Filipino athletes in various competitions in France, including boxing, pole vault competition, rowing, weightlifting, athletics, fencing, swimming and judo.
