Thousands of Americans protest against US-Israeli bombing of Lebanon

,

Thousands marched in New York in the US on the night of September 24 to once again call on the US government to withdraw its military support to the Zionist regime of Israel. The action was launched after Israel bombed Lebanon on September 23-24 in a move that expanded the armed conflict in the Middle East.

Latest report said Israeli bombings in Lebanon killed more than 500, injured 1,800 and forced more than 100,000 to flee their communities.

The rallyists carried placards that read “Hands off Lebanon now!” and “No to US-Israel War on Lebanon.” The ANSWER Coalition group or Act Now to Stop War and End Racism led the action.

They condemned US president Joseph Biden, his vice president Kamala Harris, and her presidential election rival Donald Trump, for their continued support of Israel’s genocide in Gaza and its aggression in Lebanon.

“Israel’s attacks in Lebanon and the ongoing siege and genocide in Gaza are made possible by the huge amount of bombs, missiles and warplanes provided by the U.S. government,” the ANSWER coalition stated. This protest follows almost a year of protests by the American people against their own government and for the defense of Palestine.

In protest, they also condemned Benjamin Netanyahu’s upcoming visit to the US on September 26.

Similar protests were held in San Francisco, Seattle, San Antonio and Phoenix. In Chicago, the Chicago Coalition for Justice in Palestine led the protests.

There were also protests in support of the people of Lebanon and Palestine in Tunisia and Morocco.
