Zionist Israel relentlessly annihilates Palestinians from Gaza City

,

Zionist Israel relentlessly and brutally bombards Gaza City, one of the remaining areas outside evacuation centers still occupied by Palestinians. The all-out assault on the city began in the first week of August after Benjamin Netanyahu’s Zionist cabinet approved the plan to directly occupy the city.

Israel’s grave war crimes and crimes against humanity worsen through its campaign to drive out residents from the city. On August 4, it bombed a press tent near al-Shifa hospital, killing six Al Jazeera journalists. On August 25, it struck Nasser Hospital twice, killing 22 people, including patients and their rescuers. From September 5 to 8, Israeli warplanes pulverized four high-rise buildings that housed hundreds of Palestinian families. Residents were given only minutes to flee their homes. On the pretext of housing a Hamas official, a 13-story building was bombed without warning, killing up to 41 Palestinians.

Buildings and various locations are bombed daily to evict Palestinians from the city. The ongoing blockade on food has caused widespread hunger and malnutrition.

This September, the International Association of Genocide Scholars (IAGS) formally declared that Israel’s actions in Gaza constitute genocide, based on the legal definition in the UN convention on genocide.

The group also recognized Israel’s war crimes and crimes against humanity during its 22-month-long assault on Gaza. Acts constituting genocide include widespread attacks on civilians and facilities essential for survival, such as healthcare, aid, and education. It also cited the killing of over 50,000 children, along with the disappearance of many others, which severely affects the survival and continuity of Palestinians as a group.

According to the IAGS, although Hamas’s October 7, 2023 attack may also be considered a crime, Israel’s retaliation targets not only Hamas but the entire population of Gaza. The oldest association of genocide scholars, the IAGS includes experts on the Holocaust or Germany’s genocide of the Jews. Its formal declaration is but one of the latest to the many others who had already declared and condemned Israel’s genocide over the past nearly two years.

Meanwhile, on September 7, ships of the Global Sumud Flotilla bound for Gaza arrived at the port of Tunisia. Twenty of the ships came from the port of Barcelona, Spain. These vessels, along with 30 other ships carrying 300 tons of food, water, and medical supplies, are scheduled to sail in the coming days. While docked in Tunisia, the flotilla suffered consecutive drone attacks on September 9 and 10. Bombs targeted the largest ship, the Alma, sailing under the United Kingdom flag. The flotilla’s organizers believe Israel carried out the attacks.
